Wild Camps of 2024..Trailstar/Duomid XL/Scarp1/Xmid2Pro
As ive done on previous yrs, heres a short write up on 2024,s Wild camps. This years have taken place at home in the Lake District,in Scotland and Northern Sweden
The first took place just off the shoulder of Yoke after walking around the Kentmere Horse shoe walk on the 13th Jan
Next was a camp on the back shoulder of Esk pike on the 10th of Feb
Followed by a camp on the end Caw on the 8th of March
My new Xmid2Pro arrived and i took it across the Coniston fells with a camp on Grey Frair summit on the 20th March
5Th of May and a camp on the Calf summit after collecting a few peaks with a fellow wild camper
The above and 2 below pics were taken on Sand hill as we went out to catch the Aurora display,i got a message come through and another wild camper joined us,the best display i have ever seen in the UK
Scotlands Glenshee Munros on the 25th and 26th of May saw us collecting peaks both sides of the Glenshee pass with a camp on either side to match
Maggie joined me on the 22nd of June for a Camp and we ended up over on Little Hart crag summit
An unpleasant day on the middle spine of the Lakes saw me and my brother drop down a bit and camp on Rannerside,we were treated to some nice evening light..29th June
12th and 13th of July and i plotted out a route to the back of the Bridge of Orchy Munros, with my brother. Two pics above on the Top Beinn a Churin
After a windy day we finally camped on the cliffs 2 k North of Beinn Dorains summited, which we summited after we had got pitched up,these two pics
Another Kenmere round and i camped near Kentmere pike summit on the 18th of August, above sand below pics
Then after months of planning and my brother sorting all the transport there and back a trip into Sarek National park in Northern Sweden,31st August
First camp just below Vasttopparna at 680 m,having flown in from Ritsem, after all the terrible storms folk had had out here it was good to be on route
Then after a cool start the next day the weather started to warm up leaving us with a great camp,in a high valley below the Oarjep Ruphtesjiegna glacier, at 900m also treated to some Aurora above camp too
Camp 4 below was camped by the outflow loch/lake of Bielajavratja and was my 18th of the year so far
A bad weather day and wanting to keep on track to camp near Skierffe in a few days, saw us plan out a shorter day and an early camp, this one with the mighty peak of |Bierikjiegna looking down on us
Next day we left the valley we were in traversed around as the rain and wind set in,rather than drop down into the top of the Rappa valley,we sought out some shelter and camped at the pass above it at 970m
A tough swim/wade/fight took us through the Rappa valley delta in amazing weather, but for me to hot,is was good to finally climb up out of the valley, too cooler air ,plus another showing of the Aurora too
