Short video of MLD Supermid and a night watching the star showers

With trip too Sweden looming, we weren't going to go out the last few winds, but promise of a good star showing and clear skies, we went with a short walk in

We went halves on a usedSupermid last year, to use as a winter test, but decided for this trip  to take it out for an airing

It truly is Huge, you set the inside pole too 6 Ft !

Auld lad fit nicely in-between us

Not long after we had pitched i spotted a pair of Tawny owls, searching for tea, we got to watch them for a good five minutes

We had a few deer pass over the fell behind us, as the last of the light left us

We didn't get the best of the light for sunset and even had a few spots of rain

We sat in and waited for the dark and the cloud to clear, this wasn't till 11pm,sadly the moon spoilt a lot of the night skies but we got to see a pretty good show

Best shot of a star trail i got

Luxury camping and yes Oscar got some too

I put the two short time-lapse night videos i took up on a separate little post, thanks for looking and safe travels Peter & Oscar

First attempt at Time-lapse

I tried some time-lapse with Gopro slightly different settings on the each video, both quite short

Howgills,August 17

I agreed to meet Lee in Sedbergh for 6 ish on Friday and was waiting for him when he arrived, unfortunately he had to go straight back home 😕 but he met me at camp first thing Saturday morning

A bit later than planned i set off out of the village, it was a lovely evening, an hour and a bit later i enjoyed the views from Winder summit

There was a fresh breeze so i dropped off the summit and pitched up, taking my tea up to the summit to eat

The moon lite up the hills so i nipped out at midnight to take a pic and was soon snoring again

The next day started well and i sat waiting for Lee to arrive as i had a 2nd brew and brecky

Two good friends just chilling as we had a wander around these fells, we saw some huge heavy showers pass us by and deployed Lees Trailstar twice as we got caught by a few other showers

We ended up in a big loop bringing us back round to the Calf which now had a stiff breeze blowing over it.Id  had a message while walking and Martin messaged and asked if he could meet up with us, which he did arriving not long after us

The wind was cold and stiff and a look later showed a temp of 6.9c ....Summertime ..... but we did have some nice light and some lovely looking clouds scooting across the skies

Ive only had a few trips too the Howgills but been luckily enough to have two great camps on the Calf summit now

Heres a short video of the trip, the next morning was clogged in so we strolled down to the village and an excellent breakfast at Duo cafe ( 32 main st )....well worth a visit

Thanks for looking and safe travels Peter and Oscar the mountain dog
