Glencoe ski car park was empty as we donned boots and set off the crisp air

















Not sure on the above pic its either Ben Alder or the munros on East side of Loch Treig

was a nasty bit of ground too



















 






We had dinner on the top Clach Leathad the views were stunning with lots of cloud and moody dark clouds

The temp was -4c with a fresh 25-30 mph winds at times,we had a few snow showers pass through

  Day 4,Overnight it had been windy and wet and the forecast we pulled in,gave more of the same for today  The Trailstar once again proved its worth as an excellent shelter for these longer trips in wild remote places,a brief gap between showers allowed us to pack our shelters away fairly dry The map showed an old Sami hut (Pielastugan) on the map so we decided to give it a visit,it sat out on a spur of land in Lake Bielajavratja Sadly its not in good condition and was rather mouldy and unloved,but it still mainly dry inside   We saw some blue skies and were hopeful of some dryer weather,heavy cold showers joined the wind the mix instead  The views out towards the mountain Bierikbakte,sat at over 5000 ft and at the foot of which we ended up camping  I had wanted to camp close to the foot of the mountain,but that would have meant crossing the glacier river,first thing in the morning,so we searched this side of the river and found a lovely flat spot,for an early c...

Sarek National Park Sept 2024.MLD Trailstar ..Day 1

This years trip was to Sarek National Park in the far North of Sweden an,area protected with World heritage status.With mountains over 2000m and 100 glaciers,a place of  both long deep narrow valleys,but also wide flat high ones.Both of which  are criss crossed with wild rivers and glacier fed Lakes all joined together by miles of high alpine tundra and only 2 bridges in the park It took us a full day of flights and trains and taxis to get to Lulea where we met up with Christie Crowler who had just finished her walk,we were to meet Matt Holland,who was going to join us,but the bad weather and the big storm had him change his plans    Hotel was ok and close to the train staition,which we needed in the morning,so after grabbing our fuel off Christie (fanks again) we went to our room and got everything packed away We then all met up and went for tea as Chrissie told us of the storm they had caught at the end of her walk,she bumped into Dale too while out hiking  Th...

Wild Camps of 2024..Trailstar/Duomid XL/Scarp1/Xmid2Pro

 As ive done on previous yrs,heres a short write up on 2024,s Wild camps.This years have taken place at home in the Lake District,in Scotland and Northern Sweden The first took place just off the shoulder of Yoke after walking around the Kentmere Horse shoe walk on the 13th Jan  Next was a camp on the back shoulder of Esk pike on the 10th of Feb Followed by a camp on the end Caw on the 8th of March  My new Xmid2Pro arrived and i took it across the Coniston fells with a camp on Grey Frair summit on the 20th March 5Th of May and a camp on the Calf summit after collecting a few peaks with a fellow wild camper  The above and 2 below pics were taken on Sand hill as we went out to catch the Aurora display,i got a message come through and another wild camper joined us,the best display i have ever seen in the UK Scotlands Glenshee Munros on the 25th and 26th of May saw us collecting peaks both sides of the Glenshee pass with a camp on either side to match Maggie joined me on...
