Wandering the Swedish laplands Day 3

Day 3 started dry with a slight breeze, the temp around 8c again.I love the ritual of stove on brew then hot water on oats/raisin mix

"Leaving No Trace" again we set off under dry but cloudy skies, temp at 7c for 8 am

These hats from Alpinelite must have been one of the most worn items of the trip, probably my favorite bit of new kit in recent years, along with a pair of his 20g Alpha mitts

We rejoined the track for a short while and then cut across marshy ground to get to our river crossing,it was about 140 yards across but the water was crystal clear so it was easy to see foot placments....pants off ! we were soon across and back on the planned route

But first we had the river to cross over, but it wasnt too deep or that cold, knee deep in places

The weather stayed mainly dry,as we followed the faint path along we found this print, most folk suggest a dog one said possibly a young wolf...you can but dream

As the breeze was in our faces we came up on some deer who were feeding and one young white one,a sign of good luck i believe

After a few hours we leveled up with the settlement Alisjavri, from which we then turned Westwards again

We got caught by a few heavy showers before it set in harder, all eyes scanning for a pitch as we aimed for the Visttasvaggi valley

I thought it would catch too much weather but Jamie was keen to check this last high lump out ,no joy so we carried on our descent into the valley

After crossing the bridge over the Moarhmmajohka we found a pitch just up from the river flood plain, glad to swap too dry and warm layers and get a warm cuppa soup on

Food tastes so much better after a long days walk,a little more so if the last few hours have been wet and windy

Cloud played around the peak of Bogicohkka over 5000ft tall

Funnily after we had got pitched it finally stopped raining for an hour or two but set in again for the rest of the night

After collecting water and a very quick face wash my hands were cold from the fast river water, but were soon warm again as i sorted things inside my shelter, with my Alpha mitts from Alpinelite on..still not sure how something so light can work so well

Its been a good day even if the last few hours were wet,but tomorrow i get to show my brother the stunning Nallu valley, plus return myself after 5 yrs

Thanks for looking,safe travels Peter
