A quick one nighter in the Cairngorms
So after breakfast at our B&B at Garve, with us both grumbling about the wrong forecast the day before (On our Fannich trip) ,we drove south and then upto the ski station
It was noticeably cooler than the 3 days before,by a margin of 18 c
The clag was down sadly so Lee and Oscar sadly didn't get the great views you can get from Macdui, which was a shame as there pretty good
Its been nearly 18 years since i first did these hills and it was a shock and a shame to see all the large paths that have appeared over those years. But its no different than back home in the Lakes
For reference i never meant to be that close to this path, but i kept moving the door to get a better view, it wasn't the main path but back from it by about 2 mins
Not long after we got to the area we planned to camp it started to clear out nicely, so we ate our tea out. After tea we decided to nip up Cairn Gorm while it was clear
Our camp was right on the 1100m line, the highest for me in my Trailstar
So glad we did go up as we spent a cracking 50 mins up there watching the cloud roll in and out and even invert a little at times
The clag came in and out after we returned to camp, we were up and away by 5-30 am and back to car for 7am,caught a bit of inversion too as we scooted down past all the horrid ski workings
We,ve stopped here before for breakfast and it didn't disappoint, worth a visit if your on the A9
