Duomid in the high Cairngorms

Checking back i saw it was 2003 when i did the two big peaks of Ben Bhuird and Ben Avon,on that trip i biked in with my brother from Invercauld bridge biking in then hiking the two summits

So with a half ok forcast we decided to walk in from the Punch bowl via Glen Quoich, what a lovely walk in it was too

Lovely views back down the valley,it was a nice 10c too none of this horrid sweating stuff we have had to put up with these past few months

Above the view down from A'Chioch too Dubh Lochan

Below, between a few heavy cold showers were the views into the wonderous Cairngorms a feast of peaks and valleys

When we pulled in a weather forcast it had sadly changed to give 10-12 hrs of heavy rain and winds we planned to push on further and find a pitch to spend the day, hiding and brewing

After some hunting around we found a spot to pitch behind a small peak, the 1119m small peak just south from Ben Avon summit

Above the view back across the "Sneck" too Beinn a' Bhuird and the view from my shelter of Ben Avons summit torr

I had a choice of meals for the first nights meal, but picked the LYO Beef Stroganoff which i really liked

With a miserable forcast and a brew in my hand we dragged tired legs over and onto the summit of Ben Avon

In the late evening light the views in all directions were superb

My phoned pinged off an Auora alarm but cloud cover killed off any chances of that, but with the Northerly wind gone it wasnt too cold ...... 2c
With a planned nest day in the tent,i went ot around 11-30 pm to take some night shots..wish id gone to sleep earlier with hindsight !

So this is what the "Sneck" looked at, at 5 am !
My mate had some serious kit failure and was outside my shelter at 4-15  am explaining to my tired head that we would have to leave early before the heavy rain set in 😟
So by 4-45 i was packed and we had some night nav practise in the dark and clag, luckily by the time we got across to the Sneck we were out of the clag and it was light enough to walk more easily

Once we got to the valley bottom we had a strong brew and a bit of breakfast,we then found ourselves on a stunning stalkers track that whisked us many more miles down the valley

From the end of the valley we sadly had to leave our lovely path and follow some small trails and bush wack a bit till we picked up the Landrover track on the East side of Quoich water river

Luckily we didnt get too much rain and were back to the car for just after 10 am a short drive to Braemar for a quick breakfast, then a horrid drive back to Penrith in heavy rain...these two mountains were the last of Lees Cairngorm Munros

Heres a link to the video i took, nothing too special but i just love the Cairngorm valleys, rivers, trees and mountains
Thanks for looking and Safe travels ...Peter
