Cold pike wild camp,Scarp 1..Nov 2022

With the weather and still being ill after my Sweden trip id not been out since that trip for a camp,it seemed to be westerly after westerly but finally ok,Jamie was full of flu so i took me and Miss Maggie off to Langdale

I arrived at the NT campsite for 7-30 am for a long overdue catch up with Jilly about her and my recent trips away…what with folk coming in for Bacon buns,it was 9 am before i got myself away…..safe to say Maggie has another fan to add to her club

I,d read the Forcast as possible inversions but sadly it was cloud we had to greet us,as we headed up i got chatting to two blokes who were not sure about where to go so i offered to take them over the Crinkle crag ridge…..i think Paul and David

Sadly they didnt get any views as i lead them through the thick mist over the various peaks,i always make it 7 separate peaks along the whole ridge, but as we left the last peak it finally broke up

Not long after we parted ways,Maggie sad to see the man who had the very nice sausages in his bag,i pointed out there path down,as i broke off across the very wet ground too Cold pike

Treated to a Brocken spectre on the summit as Maggie bagged her 50th Wainwright peak

Once id pitched and collected water i went and sat on the summit and watched the last of the day,as the sun set behind a bank of cloud

The skies clearing meant the temp dropped,5c so i had chance to try my new down socks from Alpinelite, very warm and so well put together…sadly an hour or so later the cloud came in and the temp went up to 10 c !

Not long after tea the clag came in thick and the wind increased gusting and shaking our shelter, but we were both fed and Maggie was all snuggled up in her Woofbag

No star pics but the morning was a beauty with an inversion and swirling cloud hiding and showing the peaks

The top of Pike of Blisco gave Maggie her 51st Wainwright and another Brocken spectre

It was a nice walk down into the mist as walkers headed upwards we slowly descended  ,heading back to the campsite and one of those lovely bacon baguettes they sell

Thanks for looking,safe travels Peter
