Wild camps 2023
Another years wild camping comes to an end to add to the the many that have already passed by..
Camp 1 795m ππ (2 pics) Kirkfell
So the first of the year was 20th Jan and took us too the dramatic Wasdale valley,a walk up to Pillar and a great stroll across and up to Kirkfell summit for a nice pitch on snow,the next Day we walked over Great Gable then back down to the green valleys
Camp 2 800m ππ (2 pics) Hart crag
Next camp was 12th Feb and was on Hart crag as i took a lad from walk around the Fairfield horseshoe
Camp 3 760m ππ High Raise
25 th Feb saw us do an extended Kentmere horseshoe and a camp on High Raise (2 pics)
Camp 4 25th March700m πππ Wetherlam
I took a lad around the Coniston fells, in not the best conditions,that finally saw us dropping of the summit area to camp out of the worse of the wind and rain (3 pics)
Camp 5 7th April 750m ππ (2 pics) Mamores
The first Scotland trip took us too the Mamores for two nights the first camping low Binnein Beag
Camp 6 8th April 950m Mamores (2 pics )
Close to the summit of Sgurr an Lubhair ππ
Camp 7 12th May 800m π Ben More group
A return to Scotland with 3 camps spread over the 7 Munros of Ben More group,Crainlarich (1 pic) Pitched at the col west of Beinn a Chroin
Camp 8 13th May 870m (2 pics) ππ Ben More group
A lovely flat pitch just north of Beinn Tulaicheans summit
Camp 9 14th May 860m (1 pic) 860m Ben More group
The third and last night was pitched on the col between the giants of Ben More and Stob Binnein
Camp 10 7th July 695m ππ Cold pike
Back home in the Lakes i had a night on Cold pike
Camp 11 28th July 620m Great Sca Fell
Was camped near Great Sca Fells summit π
Camp 12 4th August 710m ππ Thuncar knott
A walk around the Langdale peaks saw me and Maggie spend a lovely evening on Thuncar knott
Camp 13 11th August 450m ππ Mellbreak
A very windy walk to collect the Loweswater Wainwrights and saw us hide from the wind on small shoulder,off Mellbreak,which gave great views
Camp 14 2nd Sept. 1174m ππ (2pics) Kamtjonnin Norway
Then came a trip to the Trollhiemen mountains in Norway,a dry start,wet middle,dry finish weather sort of day.But we did bag athe peak of Blahoa 1672m,found a nice pitch next to a high lake to finish the first day of the trip
Camp 15 3rd Sept. 960m (2 pics) ππ Above Storlia Norway
A mainly wet day left us going a bit further than we intended,as camping spots were a bit scarce,the next morning dawned very nicely
Camp 16 6th Sept. 840m (2 pics)ππNorway
We used 2 huts on the trip but after a long hot day we found this stunning spot to camp,one of the most stunning places i think ive camped,near Fagerlidalsvatna
Camp 17 7th Sept 1290m (4 pics) ππππ Norway
Camp 18 8th Sept. 700m (2 pics) ππ Norway
Our last night in Norway saw us find a tiny spot right on the Lake shore edge,Lake Gjevillvatnet
Camp 19 760m (2 pics) ππ Grey Friar summit
The next camp was on Grey Friar summit,having bumped into and walked with another wild camper,earlier in the day
Camp 21 840m (2 pics) ππBlencathra summit
Then after 3 yrs of walking my brother Jamie finished his last Wainwright summit,followed by a nice camp on Blencathra summit,congrats brother
Camp 22 840m (2 pics) ππ 1k South of Beinn Udlamains summit
Early December and the last camps,probably,of the year with a trip up to Scotland and two excellent days on the Western Drumochtor pass Munros
Camp 23 the last camp ? (4 pics) ππ ππ 739m
We had had a stunning blue sky white hills day but as we hunted for water the clag started to close on us,by 4pm when the shelters were up it had engulfed us,but the dawn was superb
