2025 Wild Camps

The first of 2025,came on 18th Jan..... Swirl How summit after a day of thick clag and wind but around 9pm it cleared and i was lucky again,to get another night time inversion...these truly are magical

Camp No2 was 1st Feb on High Street summit and was a bleak camp

Third camp on the 14th Feb with a talented artist friend William from Manchester and saw us camped on Branstree summit,we had good weather for our walk around, but clag came in at camp

Camp 4 with Jamie and Maggie on 28th Feb,which was on Great Dodd summit

Ive fancied doing a circuit of Thirlmere for a while so 21st March saw me pitched up near Blea tarn, about 750m North of Standing crag.. tough in places route but one i want to repeat again.Camp 5

Camp 6

Then on the 4th May,me and Maggie went and met Richard, doing his Lakeland Way walk, first night we camped on lower slopes of Gowbarrow fell

Camp 7

Then the 2nd night near the top of  The Knott,on the third day we headed back to my car as he carried on to complete his route again

Camp 8

Me and Jamie had a very nice quiet walk out and camped on Crag fell summit on 25th April

Camp 9,above and below were with the legend Geoff and it was on Swines Back near Hayfield,we also bumped into other legend of this area Dan clout who camped close by

Camp 10,above and two pics below was near Russet Lake in Garibaldi park in Canada a first with all 4 brothers camping

Camp 11

With 4 brothers again next was on the Skyline trail above Maligne lake near Jasper,it was here after we had pitched that i got to see my first,in the wild,Grizzly bear

Camp 11

Camp 12 was another first as we had to pitch on wooden platforms this was up near the Three brother mountain area and was just me and jamie

Camp 13 was me and Maggie again and after a good stroll out we ended up camped on Baystones summit, the true Wansfell Wainwright summit

Then camp14 saw me and Maggie on Great Carrs summit on a warm evening, but the morning was amazing mist rolling over Wetherlam and other peaks around us

Camp 15 on 22nd August, was with Jamie and we were over on the summit of Selside pike with James, who had asked if i could do him a route to help, tidy up some Wainwright summits he needed

Camp 16 after a long day,in nearly all directions of the compass,me and James finally sat down and pitched up on Gray crag summit ridge

Camp 17,on the 5th Sept saw me collecting some peaks for Maggie and a new one for me camping on Seatallen summit after a day of bagging peaks in the area

Camp 18 was outside Camban bothy on the stunning Affric way walk with Chrissie,16th October, our first of 3 nights on this amazing route

Camp 19

Followed by another first a wild camp ! in a remote car park at Loch Affric,on the Affric way walk, but the night sky was amazing

Camp 19 was first time ive used a campsite for well over 30 yrs as well,Glen Cannich camp site on the last night of the Affric way walk

Camp 20 saw a new shelter join the pile,a windy clagged out Wetherlam summit, but met and camped/chatted with Chris weldon

Camp 20

A trip to Scotland in early December with jamie we just missed the good cold weather sadly.A new plan saw us do a day walk then a drive over too Drumochit pass and a wild camp between the two Munros on the East side of the road. The next morning we woke to a true Cairngorm hello winter morning, not been in anything that wild for a good 10-13 yrs ...always good to know you still have the skills to leave safely and with all your kit

Then Camp 20 with William again, who always brings the best of british weather with him, this time in the form of some 40..gusting 60mph winds and a mix of clag, the next morning was nice tho and we got him some more peaks ticked off his list too

So all in 20 camps for the year, from here in the lakes too Scotland and Canada for 3 camps too
Safe travels to all i know and those who just watch and follow
